The primary objectives of the Surveyor program, were to support the Apollo landings by: (1) developing and validating the technology for landing softly on the Moon; (2) providing data on the compatibility of the Apollo design with conditions encountered on the lunar surface; and (3) adding to the scientific knowledge of the Moon.

Aviation Week recently opened a new website that has ALL of their issues (1916-2016) complete for your viewing pleasure. You do need to register, but it’s free. There is an article on Surveyor I in the May 30, 1966 issue (and the others would follow with their launches and results from landing.
Thanks for mentioning my calendar. The unique feature is that I’ve plotted out the missions on a time-liine across the days of each mission so that you can “follow along.” The calendar is big: 11×17. You can have the PDF printed at your local printing center.
